GRADE 11 - 2018, 2019
Engineering Design Challenge #3 : Santa Incorporated
|
Engineering Design Challenge #1 : Robotic Arm
In this challenge, we were tasked to design and built a robotic arm with the purpose of it picking up a cup from a higher elevation and replace it in another spot. This challenge was meant to enhance our knowledge about robotic arms, as they are utilised in almost every industry today.

Engineering Design Challenge - Smart House
Picture on the right illustrates the building process of the Smart House as complete. After we finished building the house itself, we started working on the wiring and coding processes for the security system that the house will possess. The security system will contain a furnace, represented by a fan, tin foil for the doors and windows as touch sensors.

The 3 pictures shown on the right are the finished piece of furniture with the seat and the backrest attached to one another. Although the backrest has been left hollow, it can sustain your back, as you're leaning on it.

Picture shows the beginning of the backrest for our piece of furniture. After having the seat completed, we started the backrest, by beginning with the sides of it.

Picture shows the finished sides of the backrest for our piece of cardboard furniture. We have cut the sides at the bottom into a perpendicular angle, so that we can attach it to the seat, by using duct tape.

Picture shows the seat of the recycled furniture project. For the seat, we have been using a paper weave-like system, in which we cut slits in our cardboard, in order to have the seat support the people who will be seating on it.

Picture shows the top view of the spaghetti bridge project. The bridge features 3 main rails : 1 at the top, and 2 on the bottom. The 2 bottom rails assist the ball when it is rolling down the bridge, while the one at the top supports the triangles that were taped on the sides of the bridge.
